The Shotgun Fund is an Argosy Partners fund designed to meet the needs of significant shareholders facing shotgun situations. The Fund works to help small and medium-sized business owners who are facing buy-sell agreements by offering specialized financial solutions.

General partner of The Shotgun Fund, Richard Reid realized the imbalanced nature of business partner conflict during his time as an investment manager. Richard recognized that in shareholder disputes, there is often one partner who has more financial resources than the other, which disadvantages the less financially able partner. Richard saw an opportunity for specialized financing to help level this playing field and sought to create a viable solution for funding shotgun transactions.

Since its inception in 1999, The Shotgun Fund has been crucial for helping owner-managers of Canadian businesses to resolve shareholder disputes and to gain liquidity.
